Speed must match conditions
The legal limit is not always a safe speed. Rain, slush, darkness and reflections can reduce the time available for recognition and response.
Increase the distance
Stopping takes longer on wet or slippery roads. A larger gap creates room for gentle braking and allows you to observe vehicles further ahead.
Keep windows and lights clear
Remove snow and ice from all windows, mirrors, lights and the roof. Set ventilation before mist blocks the view and make sure washer fluid suits the temperature.
Use smooth inputs
Sudden steering, strong acceleration and late braking use available grip quickly. Act earlier and more gently, even when stability systems are present.
